Through March 31, bring home this curated set of Brucemore souvenirs with our limited Brucemore Bundle sale. We're clearing out old treasures to make space for new arrivals in our gift shop. This spring cleanout offers you a special chance to enjoy $80 worth of unique Brucemore items for only $20. Each Bundle includes:

  • Uncommon Kings CD
    • All of the songs on Uncommon Kings are original compositions inspired by the physical setting of Brucemore and the letters, diaries, and other archival material that provide unique insight into the history of the site and its residents.
  • Uncommon Kings Book
    • Designed to accompany the music on the Uncommon Kings CD, this book reflects the spirit of Brucemore as a place with a storied past that inspires today. This distinctively unique art book shines light on the integrity of any place, but particularly Brucemore.
  • Ring Cycle Mural Poster
    • This striking image comes from the mural that surrounds the Great Hall in the Brucemore mansion. The Douglas family commissioned this mural in the 1920s to bring their favorite scenes from Wagner’s Ring Cycle into their home.
  • Call Me Howard
    • This book tells the story of Howard Hall, one of Brucemore’s final residents and a prominent Cedar Rapids philanthropist. Included in these pages are archival images and personal anecdotes from people who knew Howard.

Bundles will be available in the gift shop located inside the mansion during tour hours* beginning March 6 or by arranging a pick-up time during office hours by contacting staff at mail@brucemore.org or by calling 319-362-7375. If you are interested in shipping options or purchasing any of the bundle items individually, please inquire.

Online orders will be charged a $4 processing fee. If you would like to avoid this fee, please contact us at mail@brucemore.org to reserve a "pay on arrival" order, or visit the mansion during open hours to make a purchase.

*The mansion will be open Wednesday-Saturday 10 AM to 3:30 PM and Sunday 1 PM to 3:30 PM. Upon arrival, please let a staff member know you are picking up your order.

Mansion Tour: Self-Guided

Discover over a century of Cedar Rapids history with a self-guided tour of the Brucemore mansion. Explore the first, second, and third floors of the mansion at your own pace while taking in the architecture, artifacts, and stories of the Douglas family, who called Brucemore home from 1906-1937. Interact with the history of the site through interpretive experiences and hands-on activities. Knowledgeable staff will be available to answer your questions. After your mansion tour, we hope you will head outside and explore the 26-acre landscape at no additional cost. We recommend planning to spend 45 minutes in the mansion during your tour.

Please note that this tour does not include access to the basement. If you would like to see the Tahitian Room and Grizzly Bar, see our guided mansion tour options.

What to do when you arrive

  • Please enter through the gate at 2160 Linden Dr. SE., Cedar Rapids, IA 52403.
  • Once onsite, follow signs towards the mansion. There is on-site parking a short walk from the mansion entrance.
  • Please check in with staff at the mansion at the time on your ticket. Enter the mansion through the front door on the south side of the building.

 

Tips for your visit

  • Please consider leaving bags or other large personal items in your vehicle. A coat rack is available, but it is not monitored.
  • Tours of the mansion consist of substantial walking and standing. The historic mansion is not currently wheelchair accessible. There are several stairs to access the first floor, and several flights of stairs to see the other floors. Please make the best decision for the accessibility of your party with this knowledge.
  • Early admittance may not be available during peak tour times. If you arrive onsite more than 10 minutes before a scheduled tour, please enjoy exploring the grounds before entering the mansion.
  • If you miss your tour start time, you may be subject to a shortened tour or asked to join another tour time that day, subject to availability.
  • All ticket sales are non-refundable. Please read our ticket policy here.
  • Photography is allowed inside the mansion for personal, non-professional use. Tripods, selfie-sticks, or other photography equipment are not permitted. Please read our photo policy here

Nooks and Crannies Tour

Satisfy your curiosity about Brucemore! This 90-minute all-access guided tour takes you across the estate and inside rarely-seen rooms of the mansion. Peek inside typically closed buildings built for servant housing or hobby use, discover the curiosities and oddities of the mansion, and get the answer to a frequently-asked question – what is behind that door?  As part of this tour, you will see the infamous mansion basement and experience the sights and sounds of a “rainstorm” in the Tahitian Room, which is an exclusive perk of the Nooks and Crannies tour!
